Reading this reminds me of going through the same, in a pre-zoom era when I brought kids to the office or to meetings, and they'd smear salami on windows that aren't ours. Ah, my beloved twerps. It was an exhausting time. And you're right about the shoes! I've got no words of wisdom, just empathy and encouragement. You've got this.
Thank you so much for writing this and putting words to some of what I have been feeling/experiencing for so long, especially in Christian mom circles, much of which hasn't been echoed by much of anyone else. It means so much to feel like I'm not alone.
Thank you for writing! Modern motherhood is hard in all its iterations; our world has developed in distinct ways to make it harder, whether you’re a SAHM or not. I started part time work again last year at my kids’ homeschool/in person hybrid, and it has been such a joyful experience. Yes-hard, not having time I would have had if I sent them to school and didn’t work, hard to figure out a new normal of doing work at home on the days when I’m not teaching in person. But it has also been a gift that I am so grateful for, and great for my kids to see. Thank you for sharing your gifts and talents with others, and God bless you!

I am totally unapologetic about the fact that I wanted to be a SAHM to make my life easier. Holiness had nothing to do with it! Combining work and kids is hard!
I feel like it’s an unforgivable sin in America to admit you want your life to be easier and you don’t want to work as hard as possible.
As a SAHM gearing up for entering the working world - I appreciate the post. The grass is always greener on the other side. We need two incomes now as well
